Canadian book trade abuzz about signing?
So I offer this graphic in lieu of a photo of me doing my happy dance. Trust me, this is better. The occasion? I have just signed a contract with Douglas & McIntyre to publish my next book – number sixteen.
I am thrilled because British Columbia-based D&M is rightly described as “one of Canada’s pre-eminent independent book publishers.” Not only that, but it has an outstanding track record in publishing nonfiction that is both research-based and literary.
Above all, I am thrilled to join such a mighty list of authors who have published with D&M. They include Anna Porter, Fred Stenson, Mark Zuehlke, Michael Byers, Will & Ian Ferguson, Wayne Grady, J.L. Granatstein, Charlotte Gill, Mark Abley, John MacLachlan Gray, Richard Wagamese, Daniel Poliquin, John Ralston Saul, Alan Twigg, Madeleine Tien, Christopher Moore, Bill Richardson, and Irshad Manji.
They include Robert McGhee, Rudyard Griffiths, Robert Hough, Zacharias Kunuk, Dany Laferriere, Ross King, Stephen Hume, Dorothy Eber, Adrienne Clarkson, Lorna Crozier, Silver Donald Cameron, Susan Delacourt, James P. Delgado, Stephen R. Bown, Wade Davis, Samuel Bawlf, Shelagh Grant, Douglas Hunter, and Farley Mowat.
And that is just a partial list! The eminence grise behind all this? Hats off to legendary West Coast publisher/author Howard White.
Wait, no title? Not to worry. I will find more to say as we move forward. One hint: I am turning again to the Arctic. Stay tuned!
Heading back to the Arctic, how lucky you are.
Denis
Denis, I wasn’t clear, sorry. I mean I am heading there in subject matter . . . though god knows I would not rule out a real-life sortie.
Go, Ken!
Congratulations, Ken. Looking forward to the next book!
Great news! Looking forward to you taking me on another McGoogan journey.
Can’t wait to hear more.
Hurray! D&M is fantastic.
Go Ken! And I’m delighted that the legendary Howard White will be going with him.
